Blessings

Thanksgiving is a time we think about what we are thankful for in our lives. It’s a time when each of us should be reflective of our blessings. There was a quote I saw today that states, “happiness isn’t about getting what you want all the time. It’s about loving what you have and being grateful for it.” Being grateful and thankful everyday rather than once a year is how I like to live. It’s good for your soul. No matter how bad a day has been, I always go to bed thanking God for everything I have. This year in particular has been a blissful one. A year of so many blessings to be grateful for…

I am grateful for a happy, healthy, and thriving son.

I am grateful for the smiles he gives me every day.

I am grateful for my husband and what he does for our little family.

I am grateful for friends who have become family.

I am grateful for girlfriends who have become sisters.

I am grateful for supportive and amazing parents.

I am grateful for the health of my family.

I am grateful for everyone in my life who has a special place in my heart.

Being a teacher, I get a glimpse into the lives of many children. I see the struggles many families face each day. One struggle in particular has struck me hard. One of my students has a two year old sibling who was just diagnosed with leukemia. This breaks my heart and send shivers down my spine. It made me realize just how difficult life can be and why I don’t take my blessings for granted. If you think you are having a bad day, just think about those who have it worse. Don’t complain, be appreciative. Life can be hard but there is always something to be thankful for.

“I’m thankful for my struggle because without it, I wouldn’t have stumbled upon my strength.” ~Alex Elle
