Have you ever been reading and have a major “a-ha moment” or feel like the author is talking to you? I’m reading Shonda Rhimes’ book Year of Yes (a must read) and I swear she’s writing about me!! In fact, we sound like very similar people…if only I was a writer/producer of amazing TV shows like her!!
One part in particular really stood out to me today. She says, “I am not a naturally optimistic person. I’m too in my own head to be a constant source of cheer. I have to work at happy. Dark and twisty is where my brain likes to settle. So I can use some reminders of what is good and optimistic and glass-half-full about this world. And nothing does that for me like the faces and souls of my tiny humans.”
Um…yeah…that’s me in a nutshell! No matter how down I may be feeling or after a particularly rough day, nothing makes me happier and more optimistic than my tiny human!
“and she loved a little boy very, very much -even more than she loved herself” ~Shel Silverstein, The Giving Tree
